Balcony design plan and implementation, Hungary, 2023

In this collaboration with Styling Flow by Török Judit, I took charge of designing the balcony of an apartment located at BudaPart Kopaszi-gát, intended for short-term lease. Positioned on the 7th floor, the flat was surrounded by various newly built apartment buildings, some still in construction.

The balcony's initial appearance featured dark grey tile flooring and bright green wall tiles, complemented by dark grey railing and a glossy space divider. However, the chosen color scheme, combined with the dusty surroundings from nearby construction sites, resulted in a cold and stark atmosphere, significantly contrasting the warm and inviting interior.

Given the intended use case and the challenging environmental conditions, my primary focus during the design process was to strike a balance between easy maintenance and creating a cozy ambiance. To achieve this, I have curated a selection of materials and furniture in a neutral, warm beige color palette, featuring natural wood, pastels, and beiges. Subtle green accents were carefully integrated into the furniture and decorative elements, particularly the use of faux plants and a green wall, which brought natural elements into the space without requiring constant care.

The addition of warm tones and cozy lighting significantly improves the ambiance, effectively softening the once cold atmosphere. Furthermore, I made sure to select materials that are easy to clean, ensuring practicality and convenience.

The final design of the balcony harmoniously balanced ease of maintenance with the creation of a welcoming and cozy environment, enhancing the overall appeal of the apartment for short-term lease.
